The vet seemed to think that the dog's cataracts made him "see" something that spooked him. This is a dog I knew and had handled, both in and out of work. Should the dog have been put down after this incident? i just thank god it wasn't my child he got. Every example you listed could be "fixed" with some simple training. One that you didn't mention is a fear biter. People always tell me that the dog was abused before they got it but fear biting is usually from a lack of socialization and it can be overcome with training.
