my airedale mix has a happy tail too not as viciously as to cause bleeding tho- Just one look from us and it gets his tail waggin- it does make me feel pretty good. According to a conversation on Coast to Coast last night being a dog owner='s a happy and longer life- of course we all new that , right?

Are dogs always happy when they wag their tails? from nervousness, or anxiousness?

Oh yeah - my pound hound used to injure ME with her intense tail wagging! She would get so excited that the whole back end would move and she didn't care where. Fortunately, she didn't actually injure herself very often!

I used to dogsit an English Setter that was happy and lovely but... had this major Happy Tail problem you mention!! I remember my horror on my 1st visit at the blood-spattered walls all around the home and the little cans of styptic powder on every countertop - they told me not to worry, that the dog's tail cracked all the time, and blood would spatter, just stop it up with powder and let it be. And not to freak out... Oh, my goodness. I dealt with it OK and actually dogsat for them several times. But what an awful problem, just a real, mess. They were considering tail docking. Thanks for another great blog post!
