you say they are your ”favorite” breed but you have not owned one so how do you know they are? you can do all the research you want but if you havent owned one then you will never know how great they are i own 3 and im a dog trainer/handler and they are by far the best all round breed for me tho its the ddr gsd or west german lines ( working bloodline) but i bet you all ready know ( not being sarcastic)i think if you love them so much buy a nice puppy from a good breeder who knows what they are doing

I currently own two GSDs. This is a great summary and overview for those interested in learning the basics of the breed. I can attest that they require a lot of dedication but it is well worth the effort. My pups are: Daphne (a female all white Americal showline) and Pruett (a male all black 1/4 czech, 1/4 hungarian, 1/2 white American showline). I love the GSD also. You’ve got to be aware that the white GSD has been bred poorly for years and as a result the white GSD is rarely capable of any of the working ability that the dog has been traditionally bred for.

You’ll never find a white GSD come out of Europe (except the UK)

Lindsay you summed it up in that last sentence…but that goes for other breeds too, and it follows if anyone is considering a dog of any kind they should research the breed and ensure they are getting a dog that matches their lifestyle and more importantly their personality…

It’s a sad fact that aggressive people are attracted to these and other breeds like them, often it is also about ‘image’ and wanting to be seen as having an agressive dog…

the irony is that in the right hands these breeds are truely beautiful gentle dogs that deserve the right to be allowed to be just that
