On day nine of my 30-day challenge to take my dog to 30 new places, Ace and I drove to a soccer field. He was very anxious to get out and run around but had to wait until he was calm. On the field, we practiced the recall and some other commands. Then I tethered him to a tree to continue getting him used to being tethered. He did not cry or bark while I walked several yards away and then out of sight. He even remained lying down. After that, Ace got to run off leash.

Well done.. recall exercises are always beneficial for dogs, no matter what stage of obedience your dog is in.
