Labradors are amongst my favourite dogs to paint. You are certainly right when you say they need a lot of exercise. Anyone who wants a labrador should walk an hour a day for a fortnight before they make their mind up about getting one!

Labs are great dogs for the right owner. Regardless, since owning a lab, I find I am spending a lot more time outside running and throwing tennis balls. Definitely makes me feel like I'm 12 again.

I probably work with more labs than any other breed with my training business. It is a shame but they have been so overbred to the point where many of the behavioral issues are a result of bad breeding.
There is such a big difference between a backyard bred lab and a well bred one.
Regardless, they all need a good amount of training.

I have met mean labs, but they were not trained or socialized. There are mean dogs in every breed though.

I read Marley and Me during a road trip last summer, and was sobbing in the back seat by myself. Ha.

Labradors are my favorite breed after golden retrievers. They actually have many things in common. I really learned about them after reading Marley, the Dog (that book made me cry like a baby, by the way).

We had a wonderful Lab for 10 days until her owner was found. The “boring” factor was a big shock to us after having a Harlequin Great Dane. The Dane was a magnet who attracted attention and admiration everywhere he went. But when we walked our Lab, nobody gave her a second glance. That part of Lab ownership really was a letdown.
