Must admit, Chels excells at this one.. I do sometimes let her go first as its easy then for me to turn and lock the door behind me, but she sits and wait...

I think this came in, as at work all doors are locked and she has to sit while I unlock them, I also walk in first as I have about 8 kids bedrooms, and in the night dont want to give them a scare...she can get lazy with it at times (especially when shes tired) shes done it since day one, so its not an issue for her...again its the old repitition and consistency

stranger got really used to sitting for everything, sit to be pet, sit before doorways, sit for fetch, sit sit sit,
a month or so ago, i added wait which has been considerably trickier. i don't know if its a dominance issue with him as much as it is too much energy. Its amazing what a difference a long walk makes, he's transformed.

I taught all our dogs a "wait" command at the door. It works great if there is only one dog at the door. When more than one, or worst case, all six are waiting to go out, it's a whole different story. When one breaks, the whole crew comes charging out.

This is part of NILF... sounds like a little NILF would benefit Ace. Luckily Fatty is the only one of my dogs that barrels around like a bull in a china cabinet around here. She is incredibly stubborn and we have had all sorts of issues trying to get her to do what she is supposed to do. I would pull my hair out if it was all of them.

My dogs always let Misty the alpha Poodle go through doors first and she usually allows me to go before her, so they have kind of worked the problem out themselves. I love when they can do that.

I never had too much of a problem with that. My old mutt was really quite patient...it is my cat that runs out the door when he's on a leash. Talk about an insatiable nut! He definitely has no respect for me sometimes! I'm just here to make sure he gets fed.
