When I adopted Rosie, they said she was a Chihuahua. But my vet and many others familiar with dachshunds say she has some dachsy in her, and I have to agree - she shows all the signs, with her short legs, and love for digging and going after small animals (like the baby bunny masacre this Spring. Very informative post. We've given you the Gold Card award so Ace can go on a spending spree (you can see the details on our blog. Enjoy!

My brother has a mini dachshund that has been a fantastic little dog for their family. She's not really my type of dog, but she sure has been good for them.

Tammy, Hans Brumbagh Von Wolfgang is quite the name! Ha!

Hi, Apryl. Yeah, it's funny when it's not your own dog doing the digging.

Jan, I agree. Many people are unaware of the health issues with dachshunds before they get one.

They are adorable, but I have never seen one that didn't develop serious back problems. It just isn't natural for a dog to be built that way and the little bodies can't take it. I hope people realize the problems before they buy these puppies.

I have always loved Dachshunds. We had a friend with one - his name was Hans Brumbagh Von Wolfgang - Hansi for short. He loved me and I loved getting to visit him!

We also had friends who had a long hair dachshund named George. He wasn't very friendly. Very barky and snappy, even though he knew us.
