For a long time they got a bum wrap in Australia but as always I put it down to owners not the breed... He was highly intelligent, loyal, and very protective of everyone in the family. This is my second favorite breed after golden retrievers. They make great guard dogs, but it's true they can be agressive to people who aren't inside their 'pack'.
