Sammi is as sweet as can be. She loves to play with other dogs. She comes and stays with us and she is nice to my cats, and she even lives with a baby. She loves everyone!

1. I do not believe getting a mixed-breed dog will do anything to increase or decrease the chance of the dog biting. Each dog is different, and the dog's temperament is determined mostly by how it is raised. A small part of the dog's temperament is also going to depend on the dog's parents.

2. You can try to predict how a puppy's temperament will turn out by watching a litter, but it's so hard to really know. I would pick out a pup that appears to be "in the middle" as far as energy, friendliness, playfulness, etc. I would not pick the pup that is the most shy. I would also not pick the pup that is the most rambunctious or rough with its siblings. But really, I think your best bet is to socialized the puppy as much as you can and begin training right away. Introduce the puppy to as many different people and dogs as you can and enroll in obedience classes.

I also recommend going to a shelter or rescue group and finding an adult dog with a good temperament. With adult dogs, you already know their personality and how they are around other animals and around people. If one shelter or rescue is not very helpful, then find another. The volunteers should be willing to match you up with the perfect dog for your lifestyle.

How did her temper turn out? I LOVE the way pitbulls look and want to own one so bad but I am afraid of their reputation. I like JRTs as well! I trained a Cane Corso in college (he was my roommate's dog) to hold a treat in his mouth until I said "ok" (the signal word I used that granted him permission). I think he was just an incredibly bright dog and it was a unique case.

1.Does getting a mix or a quarter reduce the chance of biting or
2. Are there early tests I can do if I'm trying to pick a puppy out of a litter?
3. Help!

Cute! You should send a picture of your dog! I don't think Sammi is a Chihuahua mix because she is a good 50 pounds.
