We just had to go for a walk across the Main Avenue bridge connecting Fargo, N.D., and Moorhead, Minn. this morning. And we weren’t the only idiots out taking photos of the flood in the sunny weather. Just another walk in the – well, you can’t see Woodlawn Park anymore. Ace probably would’ve jumped in for a swim had I let him.
So much for walking my dog 100 miles this month. March turned out to be a bad month for this challenge! I will keep track of our miles over the next few days anyway, and then shoot for 100 miles in April. I hope you will join me!

Watching the Red River
The 100 miles idea is quite Awesome. I didn’t do this Month because we’ve been so busy moving the Horses and stuff and work and everything, but next Month I’m going to make a real effort to walk at least 50. I also want to start jogging with Kimi [My Dog.] She loves to run and seeing as how I get up early and have an hour to kill I thought I’d start jogging, do you have any pointers/tips or advice for beginning jogging with your dog?

and you’re using the gentle leader again? Or is it a one-off occasion because of the floods and stuff?
I often rotate what collar I use with Ace – regular buckle collar, choke collar, prong collar or Gentle Leader. I use the Gentle Leader if I know Ace will be nervous and wanting to pull. I’m glad I used it yesterday on the bridge. Ace was nervous with the water, construction people, media people and others on the bridge. It’s just safer to use the head collar sometimes. It was also very icy on the bridge and I was carrying coffee and a camera and my dog’s leash.
For jogging, just start out slow like you would anyway. I wouldn’t worry too much about your dog. If you can jog a certain distance, I’m sure she will be able to keep up. But just watch so she doesn’t get too hot or cold and if she’s not used to running on streets, check her paws to make sure they don’t get worn. If she seems sore or tired the next day give her a day or two off. I like to put a backpack on Ace and keep his bags in there for picking up poop so I don’t have to carry that myself.
Yeah, we didn’t make 100 either. We’re up to trying next month!
