A high-quality fish oil is healthy for most dogs because it can reduce shedding, soothe dry skin, reduce inflammation and boost the immune system.

I have a 9-year-old black Lab mix who has some issues with arthritis and dry skin, and his vet recommended a high-quality fish oil supplement to help with these issues.

Sometimes I buy a fish oil supplement for myself, so of course I’m a believer in fish oil for my pets.

Review of Omegease fish oil for dogs & cats

Yes, it’s for cats too. Mine think it’s a treat! They’re nuts about fish.

Omegease fish oil for cats

Omegease is a natural fish oil for pets from the company Finest for Dogs. It is made from wild caught sardines, anchovies, herring and mackerel.

Ace’s vet warned me to choose a high-quality fish oil free of mercury. Unfortunately, many of the fish oil supplements sold for pets are very low quality, to say the least.

Omegease, on the other hand, is a product I trust. Finest for Dogs also makes Rejenease, a liquid glucosamine supplement. More on Rejenease here.

Omegease is made with human-grade ingredients and is free of heavy metals and other toxins, according to Finest for Dogs. To make sure, the product is independently tested for purity and exceeds U.S. pharmaceutical standards.

Of course, one of the benefits of fish oil in general is that it contains omega fatty acids (EPA and DHA).

Specifically, Omegease is guaranteed to contain at least 800 mg of EPA and 525 mg of DHA per serving, according to Finest for Dogs. This is more than wild Alaskan salmon and “nearly double the levels in farmed Norweigian and Icelandic salmon.”

Some of the potential benefits of Omegease fish oil include:

  • Softer and shinier fur
  • Less shedding, fewer hot spots
  • Soothes itchy skin
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Boosts immune system and reduces allergies
  • Supports brain health

I believe in the benefits of fish oil, and Omegease is a high-quality product.

Omegease fish oil for dogs

My own dog Ace has been taking Omegease regularly for more than a month.

Prior to starting Omegease, he was going through some sort of allergic reaction or detox where he lost a ton of hair and his skin developed painful “hot spots.”

Unfortunately, hot spots are common for my dog, and sometimes we end up heading to the vet for antibiotics and prednisone. However, this time I started Ace on the Omegease fish oil and thankfully his skin cleared up on its own.

His coat and skin now look healthy.

Finest for Dogs said I should continue to see improvements in my dog’s skin and coat the longer he is on Omegease.

Is there anything not so good about the product?

  • It does have a slight “fishy smell.” I mean, it’s made from fish, so what would you expect? It’s not a strong smell, but I do notice it if I happen to spill a bit on my hands.
  • The product is only available online. Not a problem for those of us who prefer to shop online.

Kouga and Artie

[quote_center]”Artie’s coat is especially soft and I believe both dogs are shedding less.”[/quote_center]

“My dogs loved the taste of the fish oil and I added it to their dog food each day. Artie’s coat is especially soft and I believe both dogs are shedding less. Kouga, our 10 year old has more energy to keep up with Artie. Both dogs’ eyes are bright and they are the picture of health.” – Daniel

[quote_center]”Within a week, his coat felt softer and less dry.”[/quote_center]

“One of the things I’ve noticed recently is that Lambeau’s coat seemed dry and brittle feeling, and he’s had some dry, flaky skin, also. I started using the Omegease fish oil supplement as soon as we got it, and within a week, his coat felt softer and less dry. The flakiness is gone, as well. It worked very well for him.” – Mary

I have spent a small fortune trying various omega 3-6-9 supplements to help with my dog, Possum's dry, flaky skin and shedding. Some products helped with the dryness, some helped with the shedding, but none took care of all her skin issues or did enough to satisfy me. I'd love to try a bottle of the Omegease!

Would love to win this! My 13 year cat was just diagnosed with hip dysplasia:-( Very rare condition for a cat. X-rays were taken and she has arthritis throughout her body now. A disc in her back by hips has collapsed and deteriorated. On top of that the vet heard a heart murmur and did X-rays of her chest too. She has congestive heart failure. I have read omega 3 would be great for her heart and it's an anti-inflammory for her arthritic pain She would be a great candidate for your product. I'm a disabled senior who is greatly financially challenged. Thank you

Would love to try this with my two dogs. They both are short haired with single coats, but the hair flies wherever they go. The are both getting older and would love to keep them as active as they are now. Thanks!
