Ace and I received a generous amount of free products from k9cuisine.com, which may or may not have influenced this post Ace is not a very good reviewer since he will give an A+ to anything he manages to consume (cat turds, Purina One dog food, cigarette butts …). So you’re going to have to trust my judgement instead. And no, I didn’t actually taste the dog food. Ace did the tasting, I did the ...

Note: This is a guest post by Sean Green of  PetCareEducation.com where you can find information on everything about dog care from training to grooming to nutrition. With the thousands of different dog food formulas available, it can be extremely difficult to choose the right type of dog food. My mutt Ace is one of the fittest dogs I know. He has a naturally lean body, and his sleek coat shows off his frame. He also gets plenty of exercise, and I don’t overfeed him. People are so used to seeing overweight dogs that they tell me my dog is underweight. It’s no wonder so many of us have fat pets. We don’t even realize they’re fat! Hide a dog’s obesity under a thick coat of fur, a ...

Pet food companies in the United States cannot use horse meat, according to the Equine Protection Network, which is a group dedicated to making a difference for abused, neglected and slaughter-bound horses. The main reason for this is because U.S. companies make more profit by selling it to countries where people eat the meat. This does not stop horse meat from making its way back into the United States as an ̶ ...

The DogPause bowl is designed to make your dog eat slower because it is divided into four small compartments. The bowl should reduce vomiting, gagging, gas, belching and the risk of bloat, according to the company’s web site. This bowl isn’t a magical solution, but when you have pets who eat without stopping to breathe, slowing them down a few seconds is worth it. I have two DogPause bowls to give away to ...

I do not brush my dog’s teeth. Does that make me a bad pet owner? I don’t know. I am borderline obsessive about my dog, but I have never considered brushing his teeth until a few days ago when a friend of mine told me how bad her dog’s teeth had gotten. I used to brush my old golden retriever’s teeth once a week or so, but I haven’t done the same with Ace. I figure his diet of 99 percent dry kibble helps c ...

I don’t have my own kids (just a needy mutt and a very prissy cat), but I bring up the issue of children and dogs because there are so many preschool and grade school aged kids in my apartment complex. They have no fear or respect for animals. They obviously have dogs of their own and run up to any dog, sticking their faces in the dog’s face. According to dogbitelaw.com, 77 percent of dog-bite injuries t ...

Every week, I am going to ask a dog-related question. Since this blog is intended for a wide community of dog lovers, we should be able to help one another out. Basically, I am looking for a lot of input from dog owners on various topics. I don’t care if you’re an “expert” or not. I want to hear what you think. So here’s my question: What kind of dog food is best? Dry? Wet? Natural? Does ...
