A puppy born with a cleft palate already has a strike against him. Sometimes breeders kill pups with birth defects. Right or wrong, I personally know breeders who do it. They know few people will want to buy a pup with defects. But strike two for this particular pitbull named Steve was when his family lost their home, according to 4 Luv of Dog Rescue in Fargo. There is a male pit bull terrier in one of the Fargo-area pounds scheduled to be euthanized soon if no one saves him today (Tuesday). 02/25/09 edit: The pitbull was saved and has a foster home lined up! I love American Staffordshire terriers, also known as the American pit bull terrier or “pitbull.” With so many pitbulls sitting in shelters across the country (more than 9,000 on Petfinder alone), I thought I’d share how great these dogs are. My next dog just might have to be a pitbull. The guy in this photo is Matty, and he needs a home. (9/21/09 update: Matty has been adopted!) Staffordshire terri ...
