Thank you, Ace … I’m glad I was patient enough to wait two months to find you, the “perfect” dog for me. I’m not sure I could do that today, now that I’m involved (obsessed) with rescue dogs. I have about five picked out I would adopt in an instant if I could. I’m thankful you have the endurance to hike all day, but you are also lazy and will sleep till late morning wheneve ...

…………………………………………………………………….. I really am thankful for this beautiful mutt. I mean, he does look and act like a dufus most of the time, but he does have a wise, calming side to him too. Although I would’ve been happy with any dog, I am glad I chose him. Ace ...

Ace rolled over on command today for the first time! Good boy! He only did it one time, though. I really made a big deal when he did it right, like he just won an Olympic gold medal (he thought he had). Now he is slowly improving on all five commands. Hopefully in the next 10 days or so, Ace can get them all down. I am working on saying each command only one time, and not repeating them. Ace will often give me a conf ...

I started to teach my mutt the commands “crawl” and “go long” this week. Noticed I said started teaching him these things. While teaching my mutt, I have learned it is best to teach in very, very basic steps. By breaking the training into the simplest steps possible, my mutt begins to understand. I am teaching Ace to crawl by starting with him in the down position. A good time to practice ...

___________________________________________ I come from a family of dog lovers – my mom, dad and two brothers are all crazy about dogs like me. But while visiting my family last weekend, I realized that nondoglovers put up with a lot from their family members who do love dogs. Take my grandma, for example, a nondoglover who must tolerate two hyperactive sporting dogs every time she visits her son’s fami ...

…………………………………………………………………….. Ace did something bad last night. He bit my boyfriend in the face. This made me realize I cannot tolerate any aggressive behavior from my dog. The bite was a small puncture wound on the side of Josh’s nose, an inch or so below h ...
