Ace and I have three more days to go, and we are at 87.22 miles. So far I’ve biked about 12 of those miles, and I plan to bike some more with Ace in the next couple of days. I don’t run without a leash in my hands, a dog at my side. Many runners do not own dogs. Other runners have dogs and they don’t bring them along on runs. Either their dogs are “too small” (although I’m sure they could still keep up) or their dogs are too crazy and pull too much (hmmm, wouldn’t that be a reason to run more?). Yesterday was the first bike ride of the season for my mutt and I (finally). We picked right up as though we hadn’t missed a day. There are some people out there who have never experienced a tired dog – not just a bored and lazy dog but a mentally and physically worn out dog. I know plenty of dogs that have been conditioned to lay around the house all day, because they have nothing better to do. My mutt will do the same thing. Ace and I walked a leisurely 2.57 miles today. On walking days, boy do we walk. We are in no hurry. There is a dog that we pass on most days that is stuck behind a wooden dog run.
