Mighty Paw Rope Leash Review

Mighty Paw is a company that makes high-quality products for dogs including collars, leashes and potty bells. One of their latest products is their new reflective rope leash.

The Mighty Paw rope leash comes in green or orange. It is strong, lightweight and made from the same type of rope used by rock climbers.

The leash clips to your dog’s collar with an aluminum carabiner clip (also used by climbers), and the handle is padded with tubular webbing. The leash is 6 feet long and reflective. My dog Baxter is modeling the orange version of the leash.

My thoughts on the Mighty Paw rope leash:

The rope leash is a change from our regular nylon leashes. It is very sturdy and durable. The round shape of the handle felt a bit different in my hand but was not uncomfortable. As with all Mighty Paw leashes, I appreciated the padding in the handle.

The leash is knotted at the handle and the carabiner. Initially I wondered if the knots are as strong as stitching, which is how all of my other leashes are constructed. It turns out the knots are secure, and they show no signs of loosening.

What is the cost of the rope leash?

Mighty Paw’s rope leash is $14.99 on its website.

What’s unique about the Mighty Paw rope leash?

From the quality of the materials to the construction, the Mighty Paw rope leash is a good choice for active dogs and their owners. People who are looking for some variety on regular flat-weave leashes will also appreciate this leash.

The rope is made of decay- and weather-resistant polypropylene materials to withstand the elements. There are also reflective threads woven into the entire length of the leash for added safety at night.

Testing out our Mighty Paw rope leash

The carabiner clip holds 400kgs of tension and is strong enough for repeated, long-term use.

I tested this leash when I was 8½ months pregnant and dealing with carpal tunnel in my hands. The carpal tunnel limited my grip strength and coordination. I found the quick-spring release on the carabiner a bit easier to use versus a regular leash clip. This rope leash may be a good choice for people with limited dexterity.

Pros of the Mighty Paw rope leash:

  • The materials and the construction make this leash durable and strong.
  • The bright colours and look of the rope may appeal to active families.
  • The reflective stitching makes the rope leash more visible at night.
  • The carabiner clip is easy to attach and detach to your dog’s collar.

I recommend the Mighty Paw rope leash for active people who are looking for something different than a traditional leash. If you have a strong dog who pulls on walks, the rope and the carabiner clip will be secure.

I also recommend this leash for people who struggle with traditional leash clips. The size and simplicity of the carabiner clip make it easy to hook on and off my dog’s collar.

Cons of the rope leash:

  • The tubular rope may be uncomfortable for some people, even with the padded handle.
  • Only comes in two colours—green and orange.
  • Comes in one length (6 feet)

I have a blue heeler and I think he is ADD on crack! I had no idea he was so active! I got him to help my husband with the cattle when my husband had open heart surgery! So training was out on the back burner! Now he is going on three and still not trained! So hard headed! Maybe this leash will help along with the tips I get from THAT MUTT!

I would love to win this Mighty Dog rope leash to match with the black and orange Mighty Dog collar I recently bought for my pug, Max. I’m trying to get away from the retractable leash. Thanks!

My old leash is a bit tattered and really dirty. It would be nice to have a fresh one I would be proud to carry.
