Day 24 of our challenge was not as much of a challenge for Ace as it was the kids we saw. Ace and I walked through a playground/park area where a bunch of elementary kids were having a last day of school fun day. And boy were they having fun! Water games, food, tons of screaming and laughing. And then they saw a dog!

Ace actually kept it together pretty well when seven or eight boys and girls came running up to him, followed by another group. He was wearing his Gentle Leader that day, and I told him to sit. I also told the kids not to pet him until he was sitting. They wanted to know why, and I said because he is training to have good behavior. They also asked why he was wearing something on his nose, and I said it’s so he doesn’t pull.

Ace loves attention and he loves kids.

Sounds great! Kids can be so weird, they move and sound funny. Tatum is usually good with them too, she had 6 kids on her once and didn’t even bat an eye, I was so proud!

Gaggles of kids can be a real challenge for dogs. Most of them have no idea how to approach a strange dog. They are very receptive to teachings and are very inquisitive.. if you can just get past the running and screaming phase…

strangers jumped on a couple of kids, and now im really nervous about letting him interact with them. I want him to learn how to deal with kids, but i’m afraid for the guinea pigs.

That is so great that Ace likes the kids! Twist and Zoe both like kids, but Raven and Rogue are just freaked out by them.
