What Are Raw Dog Food Co-Ops?

For anyone not familiar with the concept of raw dog food co-ops, they’re membership communities. They leverage the power of membership numbers to place bulk meat orders at affordable wholesale prices.

There’s usually a small yearly or monthly membership/service fee to offset the admin’s workload as well as the delivery drivers’ time.

The way it works is you place your order either online or by calling the owner. Some smaller co-ops may only place an order every other month or so, depending on the minimum order requirements of the raw meat vendor.

Then you go and pick it up at one of their pick up spots along their delivery route.

Some co-ops also offer in-store ordering & pick up if they have one.

Benefits of Raw Dog Food Co-Ops

If you’re a raw feeder who’s making their own homemade raw dog food, you’ll want to take a closer look. Especially if you’re feeding one or multiple larger dogs.

As you know, feeding raw can get expensive quickly, especially if you’re having to source specific protein sources for dogs with food allergies to common proteins like chicken and beef.

Additionally, it’s just time consuming to be on the hunt for raw meat deals all the time!

As far as specific deals are concerned, they vary from co-op to co-op. We’ve seen ground beaver priced as low as $3 per pound, and turkey hearts as low as $0.50 per pound!

Just a heads up as far as freezer space is concerned: You’ll likely need a dedicated raw dog food freezer to be able to store your bulk meat orders.

If you don’t have one yet, there’s going to be that initial investment up front, but it’ll pay off quickly once you’re starting to score great meat deals.

Now without further ado, here’s our list of raw dog food co-ops by State!

FYI: Some of the ones listed cover several States, so you will see certain co-ops pop up a few times.

Bottom Line

As you can tell, there’s a decent amount of raw dog food co-ops in the US, many of which are Facebook groups.

The beauty of joining a raw dog food co-op Facebook group is not just being able to place bulk orders with fellow raw feeders.

Additionally, you’ll also get access to people who may be looking to barter certain cuts of raw meat.

Keeping that in mind, there may just be a raw dog food co-op in your area that’ll help offset your cost of raw feeding multiple dogs.

If you’re aware of any other co-ops that didn’t make our list, please share them with us so that fellow raw feeders may profit from that information.
