On the tenth day of my 30-day challenge to take my dog to 30 new places, Ace and I traveled to Wisconsin to visit family. That in itself was something fairly new, but Ace has been to my parents’ house many times. On the way though, I made sure to stop at some new places where Ace could get out, including a rest-stop with a pet area and a very busy McDonald’s. Ace thought the McDonald’s was a lot more exciting than the rest-stop. He did no crying in the car during our five-hour trip. That might be a first!

What a great idea! Our dog Jilly loves to ride in the car but our other dog Wrinkles gets carsick and either pees or throws up. Interested to see where else you will go. Great blog.

When we first got mazzie she didn’t seem to like car rides and the vet gave us a small pill to give her to relax her, etc. (same with thunder storms) but one 3 hour trip I said lets just see what happens. Since then no pills for car trips or storms and she does great.

I keep remembering your 30-day challenge because we are seriously thinking about adopting a Great Dane puppy. We’ll want to socialize him by exposing him to lots of new places before he’s 4 months old. But do the places have to be new to you AND the dog, or just to the dog? I think I could manage a daily trip to places that are new to the puppy, but familiar to me.
