On day 13 of my 30-day challengeto take my dog to 30 new places, Ace and I took a new path through a different neighborhood for our morning walk. We saw new people and dogs. Although walks like this aren’t very exciting as a new place to visit, they are important for training Ace to walk nicely on a leash in all situations. He is getting better. He does better with the pinch collar on walks.
As for going to places like stores and other people’s homes, the Gentle Leader works better. The reason for this is he pulls less with the pinch collar, but with the leader he is calmer and more submissive.
What kind of collar/leader do you like best for training?

There’s a great head harness called a dogmatic headcollar http://www.dogmatic.org.uk/ that works great. A friend of mine in Spain has one for her Mastiff and also my friend in Il has one for her South African Boerboel. I am looking into it for my Saints. They look like modified leather bridals for dogs.

Chels has a gentle leader for situations where I want her to be pretty contained… for training she has a flat collar only and lots and lots of treats

I looked at that headcollar link you sent. Is that better than a Gentle Leader? I should also use more treats. I haven’t been using them at all.
