Did anyone make it to 100 miles in March? I know Pickles and her owner made it further than Ace and I. If you made it 100 miles or close to 100, let me know. If you blog about it, I will link to your site. Ace and I walked a total of 60 miles in March. I measure my times and distances on a GPS watch. If you don’t have one, I highly recommend getting one. Many factors played a role in us not making it to 100. On ...

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I believe the average adult can handle and care for a dog properly. Even if it’s their first dog, most people can put two and two together and figure out how to train and exercise a dog. If not, they can pick up a book or take an obedience class. If someone asks for my advice, I give it. If not, I keep to myself (and blog about it later). But every once in awhile ...

Here are the best outdoor dog photos that were submitted this week. This was the last week to officially submit photos for this contest. If there is interest, people can still submit their best outdoor dog photos to me at Lindsay@thatmutt.com, and I will publish them on Sundays when I have enough photos. Feel free to continue submitting photos, but make sure to put Outdoor Dog Photos as the subject. I get a lot of em ...

We just had to go for a walk across the Main Avenue bridge connecting Fargo, N.D., and Moorhead, Minn. this morning. And we weren’t the only idiots out taking photos of the flood in the sunny weather. Just another walk in the – well, you can’t see Woodlawn Park anymore. Ace probably would’ve jumped in for a swim had I let him. So much for walking my dog 100 miles this month. March turned out t ...

Our little foster dog went to her trial home today. It’s a good thing someone wanted to adopt her right away because we were starting to get attached to Sammi and wanted to keep her! Even the cats were getting used to her. Ace is walking around with his toys in his mouth happy to be an only dog again. Although he had fun with a puppy around, he will take advantage of this time to catch up on some rest. He was v ...

An emergency animal shelter will be available at the Red River Valley fairgrounds for anyone affected by the North Dakota/Minnesota flooding, according to Adopt A Pet of Fargo Moorhead. The rescue is working with the F-M Humane Society and Fargo-Moorhead emergency managers. The shelter is located at the Schollander Pavilion at the fairgrounds in West Fargo on West Main Avenue. The shelter should be up and running by ...

It is so much fun living with a puppy despite all the trouble. I look at this little foster pup named Sammi and I can’t be mad at her no matter what she does. My 3-year-old lab mix Ace actually seems mature for once, although he is enjoying all the extra toys around the house, playtime and more walks. He has already destroyed two of Sammi’s new toys. Sammi is a great dog. I can’t believe she ended u ...

Our foster dog is here. Sammi is about the cutest dog I’ve ever seen. I don’t know exactly what she is mixed with, but I am guessing mostly American pit bull terrier with some smaller terrier like a Jack Russell. She seems to be all terrier to me anyway! Basically she is a tiny pitbull. She is about a third of Ace’s size and very, very skinny. She didn’t want to eat her breakfast this morning ...

I’d forgotten how nice it is to run with my own dog. During this challenge, Ace and I walked each mile until yesterday. I run other people’s dogs all the time through my dog running business and usually end up walking Ace to give myself a break. But I realized if I wanted to add up any kind of distance we were going to have to run. So Ace and I went on our first run together in a long time. It’s da ...
