This pitbull got adopted!
Congratulations Vixen! We wish you the best luck with your new family. We’ll miss you!
It’s worth it to foster a dog.
There are many reasons to foster a dog, but one reason I failed to mention is the most rewarding part of all: You get to see that dog find a new home.
Vixen absolutely loved her new family from the moment she met them. She was a different dog, and right away, I knew they would appreciate her more than I did.
Vixen now lives with kids, she gets more attention, she will be allowed to sleep on furniture and will be someone’s special dog rather than just my foster dog. She will thrive having a home of her own. Even her eyes and expression looked happier the day she met this family. Her optimism lingered after they left (they didn’t take her home right away). Maybe she could sense the energy coming from me – I was excited for her.
The day they picked her up, Vixen sensed my anticipation and had a glowing look to her. You can see it in the photos. This dog normally moped around and didn’t require much attention. Maybe she knew she wasn’t my dog, but I think she and I just lacked the connection that the right person and dog sometimes have. Well, she’s found that connection in her new home, and I have high hopes for this wonderful pitbull.
If you have the chance to foster a dog, even for a few weeks, I encourage you to do it. There are plenty of dogs in the Fargo area that need foster homes such as Sasha the shepherd mix. Make sure you know what to expect before fostering a dog, and then go for it if it’s for you. It’s not hard to give up a dog once you know she is going to a home better than she’s ever had. After all your work, saying goodbye is actually the easy part.

Yay for Vixen! That’s great news. It’s a good foster dog adoption week, one of our fosters got a home too.
I think it is great when a dog goes to a home with kids. So good for the development of both the children and the dogs.
Hey, that’s my dog!!
HURRAY FOR VIXEN!
How did Ace take it? Is he going to miss Vixen or be happy that he’s the only doggy again?
Oh also are you going to immediately foster another dog?
We will foster again soon but not right away. It’s nice to have our old routine back for awhile.
Ace likes to be the only dog. He just gets kind of quiet and avoidant when we have another dog around. It depends on the dog though. He seems to like smaller dogs better – Small dogs and his one great dane friend.
Happy for little Vixen and proud of you…x
Woohoo! That’s super news! I’m so glad that Vixen was adopted so quickly.
Oh, I’m so glad she got adopted! I LOVE happy endings!
Yea for Vixen!! She is a cutie too!! When my geriatric dogs cross the Rainbow Bridge I am not only getting more dogs, but I’m going to foster dogs. My real, ultimate goal in life is to work with animals and I think that’s where I’ll start.
Yay! I am so excited that Vixen found a home! What an absolutely rewarding experience for you.
Lindsay, thank you so much for providing Vixen a such a wonderful foster home. The 4 Luv of Dog Rescue grately appreciates all of their foster homes because without them they could not save dogs in the local pounds. Being a foster home truely “saves a life”!
Congratulations to Vixen and her furever family! I really think I could see a difference in these recent pictures.

Oh I’m excited for you and for Vixen! I’m happy that she has found a great new home! You had a great role in helping her on her path! What a great thing you’ve done!!
Thanks for stopping by, Arie. I’ll have to check out your blog.
Thanks Tammy!
Fostering dogs has been very rewarding for me. Each dog I meet has come from a pound, owner surrender, or from a real sad situation. I love watching how they come around after a few days and even more after a few weeks. The highlight each of the foster dogs is getting a new home with a caring family that loves them with their whole heart before you even walk out of their door. It makes me think, “hey, I helped this sweet and wonderful dog by fostering him/her and now he/she has such a happy ending with their new family that the dog has waited so long for.
From a loving foster mama for 4 luv of dog rescue.

Hi Tammy. I agree. The dogs really do come around after a few days once they begin to settle in to their “home.” Glad to hear you’ve fostered many dogs for 4 Luv of Dog.
